Bespoke men’s tailoring

Sit down with one of our artisans and the first thing you notice is that nobody asks your size.

They ask about your week. Where you’re headed on Thursday evening. Whether you spend your days behind a desk or on your feet moving between meetings and airports. A garment can only be built around a man once someone has actually taken the time to see him standing there.

That’s where every commission at Lapels begins. Not a swatch. Not a size chart. A conversation.

Four generations of this house have worked the same way since 1940: understand the man first, then pick up the shears.

Occasions worth dressing for

Cut for the moments that matter

We’ve fitted men before board presentations, before they accepted an ambassadorship, before a keynote that mattered, before they stood next to their partner on the biggest day of their life.

Different rooms, different stakes, same instinct behind the needle: when the clothing disappears into the background, the man wearing it is the only thing anyone remembers.

A pattern uniquely yours

What an artisan notices that a tape measure never will

One shoulder sitting a touch lower than the other. An arm that rests further forward than it should. The particular way a man keeps a hand in his pocket without thinking about it. None of that shows up on a measuring tape, and all of it ends up in the pattern.

Most places in this city selling “bespoke” are really selling made to measure: a block pattern, nudged to fit you. We start with nothing. Your pattern doesn’t exist until we’ve understood you, and once it does, it belongs to no one else.

Our processes

How a commission actually unfolds

The first conversation

Before we talk fabric, we talk about you. Your work, how you travel, what’s already hanging in your wardrobe, and what’s coming up that matters. We’d rather spend an hour understanding a man than five minutes measuring him.

For those who can’t make it to the atelier, we bring that same conversation to you, across Downtown Dubai, Business Bay, DIFC, Dubai Marina and beyond, through Lapels Privé.

Choosing the cloth

Some cloths perform through a week of travel and still look sharp on the last day. Others show their character best under evening light. We talk through where this garment is actually going to live before we open a single bolt from our mills: Loro Piana, Dormeuil, Scabal, Caccioppoli, Ermenegildo Zegna and others.

Building the pattern

Posture. The way a shoulder carries a jacket. How a man stands when he isn’t thinking about standing. This is where the real work happens, long before scissors touch cloth. It’s preserved afterwards too, so the next commission starts from what we already know about you.

The fittings

Somewhere around the second fitting, something shifts. The garment stops feeling like a piece of tailoring and starts feeling like something that was always yours. Most men need two or three fittings to get there. More complicated garments take longer, and we’d rather take the time than rush it.

The finish

Hand-padded canvas that lets a lapel roll the way it should. Buttonholes worked by hand, one at a time. None of this gets noticed on its own. All of it gets felt, years later, in how the jacket still moves the way it did on day one.

The pieces men come to us for

A board meeting calls for something different than a wedding, and a wedding calls for something different than a night in black tie. We cut across all of it: business suits built to survive long days and longer flights, wedding suits for the day that gets photographed more than any other, dinner jackets for evenings that call for restraint rather than noise, and blazers for the days a full suit is one step too far. Whatever the occasion, the approach doesn’t change. We start with you, not the label on the garment.

Building a wardrobe over time

Many of our clients arrive for one suit and stay for years. Because we keep your pattern and remember your preferences, each new commission builds on the last rather than starting from zero.

Client experiences

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the bespoke tailoring process take?

Most commissions take four to eight weeks from the first conversation to the final collection. More involved garments can take longer. Tell us your timeline at the start, and we’ll work honestly with what’s possible.

How many fittings are included?

Two or three, most commissions. More complex garments or particular fit requirements sometimes need another. Each one exists to get the balance and comfort exactly right, not just the measurements.

What fabrics are available?

Loro Piana, Dormeuil, Ermenegildo Zegna, Scabal, Caccioppoli, Huddersfield, Carnet and John Cavendish for suiting. Thomas Mason, Albini, Alumo and Monti for shirting. We’ll talk through what you actually need the cloth to do before we recommend one.

Can I build a complete wardrobe through Lapels Bespoke?

Yes. Because your pattern and preferences stay with us, every future commission builds naturally on what came before rather than starting again from nothing.

How do consultations at Lapels Bespoke work?

It starts with a conversation, either at our atelier inside The Palace Downtown Hotel or somewhere that suits you better. Call, email or book online whenever you’re ready. +971 58 526 7789, clientrelations@lapelsbespoke.com.
