LapelS Bespoke
Men’s wedding suits & groom suits
Years from now, when the celebrations have become stories and the photographs have found their place in family albums, one thing remains unchanged: how you looked and how you felt on your wedding day.
A wedding suit is made for that moment. Not simply to fit well, but to become part of a memory that will be revisited for decades.
For four generations, our house has approached wedding commissions with that understanding. The same principles that shaped our work in 1940 continue today: begin with the man, understand the occasion, and create a garment worthy of both. Every pattern is drafted by hand for the individual, every fitting is unhurried, and every decision is made with the wedding day in mind.
Today, we welcome grooms and groomsmen to our private atelier at The Palace Downtown Hotel, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai. Our craftsmen work with cloth from Dormeuil, Loro Piana, Ermenegildo Zegna, Scabal, Caccioppoli, Huddersfield, Carnet, John Cavendish and Vitale Barberis Canonico, guiding each groom towards the fabric and construction that best suits the day he is preparing for.
What we craft
Wedding suit styles we create
We craft wedding suits for grooms and groomsmen across the full range of formal styles, from classic tuxedos and single-breasted peak lapel suits to modern slim-fit cuts and smoking jackets for gala evenings.
Colour choices include traditional black and midnight navy, contemporary charcoal and ivory, and modern options such as champagne, beige, and pastel tones for grooms who want something that complements the wedding palette rather than contrasts it.
Every detail is chosen with the overall wedding in mind. The groom’s suit and the bridal look should feel coordinated, not matched. We guide that balance at every consultation.

Your tailoring house
What is a bespoke wedding suit?
A bespoke wedding suit begins with a blank sheet of paper and a conversation about the man who will wear it.
Before any cloth is cut, our craftsmen study your proportions, posture, movement and the way the garment needs to serve you on the day itself. From these observations, an individual paper pattern is drafted by hand, creating the foundation for a suit that belongs to you alone.
In today’s tailoring market, this distinction is worth understanding. Bespoke and made-to-measure are not the same process. They do not produce the same result. True bespoke is built around the individual from the very beginning, with every stage of the process shaped by the person standing in front of the craftsman.
A bespoke wedding suit is not simply created for your wedding day. It becomes the starting point for a wardrobe that can evolve with you long after the celebration has passed.
At Lapels, every bespoke wedding suit involves:
- A paper pattern drafted specifically around your measurements and proportions
- Cloth selected from the mills represented within our collection and cut for your individual pattern
- A series of private fittings where the garment is observed, refined and perfected
- A preserved pattern that allows future commissions to build upon the relationship established over time
the difference
What is the difference between bespoke and made-to-measure for a wedding suit?
A bespoke suit begins with an individual paper pattern created from your measurement’s proportions, posture and movement.
The garment is then shaped through a series of fittings, allowing the craftsmen to observe how it sits, moves and develops on your body before the final details are completed.
This approach creates a suit that reflects the individual wearing it, from the balance of the shoulders to the way the jacket falls when you stand naturally. The process requires patience because the garment is not simply being adjusted to fit. It is being developed around you.
| Features | Bespoke | Made-to-Measure |
|---|---|---|
| Pattern origin | Created from scratch for you | Pre-existing block adjusted to you |
| Fittings required | 3 to 5 | 1 to 2 |
| Construction | Hand-cut, hand-finished in key areas | Machine-cut and assembled |
| Timeline | 8 to 12 weeks | 4 to 6 weeks |
| Customisation | Complete | Significant but limited |
For a garment that will appear in photographs for generations, the process behind it matters as much as the finished piece.
fabric
What fabric is best for a wedding suit in Dubai’s heat?
The right cloth is never chosen in isolation. It depends on where the wedding is taking place, the time of year, how the day unfolds, and how you want the suit to feel from the ceremony through to the final photographs.
A groom getting married in a ballroom at The Palace Downtown has different considerations from someone exchanging vows outdoors, hosting a destination wedding, or moving between open terraces and air-conditioned spaces throughout the day.
This is why we begin with the occasion before we open the fabric books.

For a ballroom wedding in Dubai
For formal indoor weddings, we often reach for fabrics that hold their structure beautifully while remaining comfortable throughout the day.
A Super 150s or finer worsted wool is often a strong choice because it maintains a clean silhouette, photographs well under evening lighting, and has the breathability needed for Dubai’s climate.
Some fabrics we may recommend include:
- Scabal: Chosen for grooms who want structure and presence without unnecessary weight. Their Super 150s cloths offer a balance of drape, resilience, and comfort that works particularly well for formal evening occasions.
- Ermenegildo Zegna: Often selected when softness and movement are important. Their superfine wools have a natural fluidity that allows the suit to sit comfortably while maintaining its shape.
- Dormeuil: A choice for clients who appreciate a more pronounced cloth character. Collections such as PRESIDENT are known for their fine wool construction and the way they carry a formal silhouette.
- Loro Piana: Often considered when the focus is on the hand and feel of the cloth. Their extra-fine merino and cashmere blends bring a softness appreciated by clients who value how a garment feels as much as how it looks.
For outdoor or destination-style weddings
For weddings where the suit will spend time outdoors, we often use options that allow movement, manage warmth, and continue to look natural throughout the day.
This is where lighter constructions and breathable weaves often become more suitable.
- Caccioppoli: With its Neapolitan heritage, Caccioppoli is often chosen for lighter summer cloths, including fresco and open weaves that allow greater airflow while maintaining elegance.
- Huddersfield: Their linen and linen-wool options are considered when a groom wants a more relaxed texture that works naturally in daylight settings.
The important thing is not choosing the lightest fabric available. A wedding suit still needs to hold its shape, photograph well, and feel appropriate for the occasion.
A lightweight cloth that loses its structure halfway through the day is not the right choice, even if it feels comfortable at the first fitting.
Finding the right cloth for your wedding
Many Dubai weddings move through different environments: an outdoor ceremony, photographs in natural light, and an evening reception in a cool ballroom.
The role of the atelier is to understand those details before recommending a cloth. The same pattern cut in two different fabrics becomes two entirely different garments. One may drape with more authority, another may move more freely, and another may feel more relaxed.
The right choice is the one that allows you to enjoy the day without thinking about the suit at all.
How long does a bespoke wedding suit take in Dubai?
A bespoke wedding suit at Lapels typically takes eight to twelve weeks from the first consultation to final collection.
We generally recommend beginning the process at least three months before your wedding date, allowing enough time for the garment to develop naturally through each stage.
A wedding suit is not simply measured and made. The process begins with understanding the occasion, the setting, and the person wearing it.
During your first consultation, we discuss more than the wedding itself. We look at your style, how you move, the occasions you dress for, and how this garment may become part of your wardrobe beyond the wedding day.
Our bespoke wedding suit process
Private consultation and cloth selection
Every commission begins with a conversation.
We explore the wedding setting, your preferences, and the details that will shape the garment. From there, we guide you through cloth, construction, and design choices suited to the occasion.
Individual pattern creation
Your measurements are taken, and a paper pattern is drafted specifically for your body.
This pattern becomes the foundation of your suit and is preserved for future commissions.
Baste fitting
This is an early fitting where the garment is temporarily stitched together with loose, removable stitches rather than finished permanently.
This allows us to see how the garment sits on your body and adjust the shape and balance before the final stitching is done.
First fitting
The first fitting allows our artisans to observe how the garment sits on you.
Proportion, balance, posture, and movement are carefully assessed before adjustments are made.
Further fittings and refinement
Each subsequent fitting brings the garment closer to completion.
The collar, shoulders, sleeve position, trouser balance, and overall silhouette are reviewed until everything feels natural and correct.
Final collection
Once the garment has been completed and reviewed, it is prepared for your wedding day.
The relationship does not end after the wedding. Because your pattern is preserved, future commissions can build upon what we have learned about your proportions, preferences, and the way you dress.
For clients with shorter timelines, including those travelling to Dubai, we can discuss available options during the first consultation. Where timings are tight, we’ll assess what’s possible at the outset and advise you honestly.

bespoke wedding suit
Is buying a bespoke wedding suit worth it over renting a tuxedo in Dubai?
A wedding suit is worn for one of the most important days of a man’s life.
It needs to do more than look right when he first puts it on. It needs to feel comfortable through long hours, move naturally through every part of the day, and allow him to focus on the moments that matter.
A rented garment is designed to serve many people. A bespoke suit begins with one person in mind.
The difference is felt in the details: the way the shoulder sits, the way the jacket moves when you greet your guests, the way the cloth feels after hours of celebration, and the confidence that comes from wearing something created specifically around you.
Why grooms choose bespoke wedding suits
A garment with a life beyond the wedding day
A bespoke wedding suit is created for a moment that matters, but it does not have to belong only to that moment.
With the right cloth, construction, and care, it becomes a garment that can accompany you through future celebrations, important meetings, and milestones still ahead.
A cloth chosen for your day
Every wedding has its own rhythm. A winter ballroom celebration, an outdoor ceremony in the Dubai sun, or a destination wedding abroad each calls for a different approach.
The cloth is selected around your setting, your comfort, and the way you want the suit to feel throughout the day.
A garment that carries your story
Bespoke allows space for details that have personal meaning, whether it is a particular fabric, an embroidered date, a meaningful lining, or a detail known only to you.
These choices transform the suit from something you wear into something connected to the occasion itself.
For one groom, the meaning behind the garment mattered as much as the craftsmanship itself. He wanted elements of his relationship woven into the suit, so we created custom gold buttons engraved with his and his partner’s initials, matching the detail used on their wedding invitation, and embroidered their wedding date inside the jacket. The suit was made in Carnet Super 160s wool. The finished work was a garment that carried both personal history and the occasion it was made for.
Overall, a tuxedo rental can be a practical choice for a one-time event, particularly for guests or occasions where ownership is not important. A bespoke wedding suit serves a different purpose: creating a garment that belongs to the person wearing it and the memories attached to it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long has Lapels been making wedding suits in Dubai?
Our house was founded in 1940, and four generations later, that same approach guides every wedding suit we create in Dubai today.
While styles have changed over the years, our approach has remained the same: taking the time to understand the groom, the occasion, and the details that make the suit feel personal.
How many fittings does a bespoke wedding suit at Lapels require?
A bespoke wedding suit typically involves three to five fittings, depending on the garment and the level of detail involved.
Each fitting allows us to observe how the suit sits and moves before making any refinements. We generally recommend starting eight to twelve weeks before the wedding so there is enough time to complete every stage properly.
Can Lapels make suits for my groomsmen as well?
Yes. We create suits for groomsmen as well as the groom.
The aim is not simply to make everyone look identical but to create a sense of harmony while ensuring each person feels comfortable and confident in what they are wearing. We can arrange group appointments at our Downtown Dubai atelier and help coordinate the process around your wedding plans.
